I was not able to accept Christmas Commissions this year, which made me sad. =/ I love to draw gifts for others and whenever others commission me to draw gifts and make others happy, I'm uber happy!

But I am still working on commissions I accepted earlier this year because the friggin university people make me collapse here seriously.

So this little contest shall give me and you a bit fun and the possibility to earn a lil' sketch commission from me for christmas with little work.

The Task:

Please create a crest/coat of arms for a noble house of Sidhe for me which can be used as a banner in war etc. This house of aos sí is said to be very unseelie, blood-thirsty and uses to wage war at any given occasion. They a fair but dark and every one of them bears the flaw, the taint of the fomorian blood in their veins, as their ancestors used to breed with the ancient monsters of the sea.

The crest's description:

'A black serpent winding around a golden tower with a crimson red door in the front of it decorated with a black dragon, all on a deep purple background.'

That's it! Make of it whatever you want.
Those of you who know Changeling - The Dreaming know this crest already. It's the crest of house Balor and you can look how it was designed originally in some of the source books for that game, but that's not what I want!
I want your own ideas, so you can possibly score if you don't know the original. If you know it or want to look at it, lemme say that I find it ridiculous that the shown snake is a rattlesnake which originate in America where the House originates in Ireland where there are no rattlesnakes at all! I guess it's more like a giant sea snake or should be more like something like this.
The Balor Sidhe are of celtic and pictic (?) origins, counting their lines back to Balor of the Evil Eye, the one-eyed Fomori King who waged war against the Tuatha deDanan.

I want you to think of it and then create a crest following the description, using the mentioned colors and then go with it as you imagine it. It should be heraldic of nature and you can do it with flat colors or none. You can just draw it on paper or draw it on wood or a shield or fabric or even create a stained glass look - on paper or whatever. It just should look heraldic and not naturalistic.

My fursona/persona Loki ap Balor ( [link] / [link] / [link] ) is member of the house of Balor. I am searching for new ideas to alter the original crest more to my liking and create a slightly varying family crest for his family within the house. So this is mainly to collect ideas and inspiration for it!

Checklist for the crest's elements:

- black serpent
- golden tower
- red door/gate on the tower
- a black dragon-emblem on that door
- purple background of some kind of banner or crest-shape

Only one prize. The crest I like best will be rewarded. And only if I can't decide which one's the best, I'll probably give in and reward more than one person.

If you win I will draw you a lil' sketch commission with up to two characters with no background. To create a heraldic simple crest isn't so much work, after all. ^_^ If you like I can draw the thing on colored paper and if I get carried away with your sketch because I have fun with your character or because it is Christmas or whatnot - I'll maybe go into more detail with it or might even color it. ;3

Extra-Points for working in something of the houses backgroundstory and/or origins I described and that can be found on various pages on the internetz (or so I hope, if you can't find anything and still want to know, just ask me) without changing the subject matter and elements of the crest, of course! Adding something or altering it is fine, but do not leave things out!

I am a Balor! This Unseelie house bred with the Fomorians in ancient times, and still bears the taint from that union. The Balor are the most savage and brutal of any of the houses. As a result of their Fomorian lineage, they can bear the touch of cold iron, and make frequent use of such weapons. However, all Balor are also cursed with some manner of physical, mental, or spiritual deformity. These brutal fey are often the Unseelie Courts warriors, a task in which they relish.
